Anti-tick tips

You don't have to go into the woods or fields to get Lyme disease. The state Division of Public Health says your backyard may be a haven for ticks.
Infectious disease epidemiologist Paula Eggers says disease-carrying ticks can be anywhere there is foliage, and even your pet can bring them inside.
Eggers says prevention is the best way to keep from getting Lyme disease.
Try not to go into tick-infested areas, but if you do, use insect repellent, wear long sleeves and pants, and do a daily tick check of your body if you're out a lot.
